When planning a trip, the desire to capture the local culture and natural beauty to share with loved ones is always strong. Yet, the resulting photos often fall short of expectations. Looking through a collection of scattered landscapes in an album, one can only sigh, "It was so much more beautiful in person." Scrolling through your phone, you might wonder which picture is even worth posting online.
"Why do other people's travel photos just feel more impactful?"
This is a sentiment I've heard countless times throughout my years of teaching. After reviewing numerous students' photos, I’ve realized it's not a lack of appreciation for beauty, but rather falling into one of two common pitfalls: One is the urge to "cram all the beauty before your eyes into a single shot," resulting in a tourist snapshot lacking focus and filled with clutter. The second is the "blindly shooting hundreds of photos" approach, akin to a headless fly, making it impossible to recreate the felt emotions of the trip later.
In reality, the beauty of travel requires a proper understanding of "photographic composition" and a "narrative framework" to be truly preserved.
In this 2.5-hour course, Franky will transform professional photographic thinking into a "Travel Photography Workflow" that anyone can easily master. We won't delve into complex technical operations; instead, we'll share a practical travel module I've been using for years:
I. Composition | The Photographer's Eye: Truly Seeing the World Through Your Camera
Don't start shooting the moment you arrive at a location. I'll teach you to adopt a photographer's perspective, identify and avoid distracting elements within 3 minutes, and utilize light and shadow, along with lines, to create clean, layered, and structured compositions.
II. Narrative | Grouping Images: Conveying Different Story Points with a Series of Photos
Let go of the obsession with "one photo capturing everything." Learn how to deconstruct your travels using techniques like "emphasizing the subject with close-ups," "documenting everyday moments with a focus," and "capturing the atmospheric ambiance with wide shots." Whether you're photographing vast landscapes or candid interactions with travel companions, you'll learn to tell the story of the moment through a cohesive series of photos.
III. Style | Precisely Setting the Mood: Enhancing Your Travels with Editing
After your trip, you'll no longer stare blankly at hundreds of photos. Through basic selection strategies and editing logic, you'll restore the authentic atmosphere of the moment and curate your most cherished visual memories.
By mastering this complete framework, from "seeing" to "sharing," you'll overcome the frustration of taking photos. In all your future journeys, photography will become your strongest asset for documenting beauty and sharing with confidence.
