The Most Beautiful Goddess, Zaki Lhamo
This Thangka depicts the past and present lives of Goddess Zaki.
Zaki Lhamo is the female wealth deity in the Tibetan Buddhist pantheon, a worldly protector primarily enshrined at Lhasa's Zaki Temple.
There are two main schools of thought regarding her origins:
One view holds that Zaki Lhamo is a native protector deity of the Tibetan region.
The other suggests she is an emanation of Ragini Numa.
In a past life, she was a beloved consort of an emperor, admired for both her beauty and intellect. Due to jealousy, she was murdered, her spirit lingering until guided by a high monk to embrace Buddhism. She then followed the monk in his spiritual journey, establishing the present-day Zaki Temple en route to Sera Monastery, where she receives offerings.
Many business people visiting Lhasa make pilgrimages to Zaki Temple, experiencing growing prosperity. Today, Zaki Temple is recognized as Lhasa's most efficacious wealth deity temple, and Zaki Lhamo, the renowned female wealth goddess.
