The Battle of Borodino is the largest battle of the Patriotic War of 1812 between the Russian army under the command of Infantry General Prince Mikhail Golenishchev-Kutuzov and the French army under the command of Emperor Napoleon I Bonaparte. It took place on August 26 (September 7), 1812 at the village of Borodino, 125 km to the west of Moscow.
