Ta-kra Earrings

Thai woven basket, local Thai usually names this technique as Cha-lew since this weaving is only use to compound traditional medicine in the old days. Thai doctor must cover the medicine with this weaving to give a sign for people before they drink it. People will recognise from the weaving that there must be something special inside. Sometimes Thai people use to place them in front of their house. This is believed to bring some good luck to the family. This is an old story that nobody has been told to the new generation anymore. We would like to preserve this traditional craft so, we created a collection of bamboo earring for a memory of our tradition and to share with others. We call this collection as CHA-LEW. We learn the technique from Thai artisans who are still producing bamboo basket which mostly live in Ayudthaya, the old capital city of Siam. However, the material has been collect in Chonburi province where farmers grow and sell high quality of bamboo. This warring is made by our hand individually. They are all made from bamboo which have been coated to protect the it from moisture.
