◆ Information about birch bark ◆
Thanks to its high water-repellent properties, birch bark has long been used in Russia to create kitchen utensils. One popular item made from birch bark is mugs designed for cold drinks. However, it should be noted that the mug can deform at high temperatures. Birch bark mugs are great for drinking milk, juice, kvass, or fruit drink, as well as enjoying beer in nature. Birch bark has many beneficial properties. It does not let moisture through, has high water-repellent and excellent thermal insulation qualities, making it similar to a thermos. In a birch bark mug, the liquid hardly heats up, so any drink remains fresh even in intense heat. Birch bark is a lightweight material and does not sink in water, which means the mug will not sink if accidentally dropped in water during outdoor activities. Birch bark is also a hypoallergenic material.
◆ Product care ◆
To care for birch bark products, follow simple rules. The items can be easily washed with warm running water, but soaking is not recommended. For heavy soiling, mild soap can be used, but avoid using chemicals and abrasive sponges that can damage the birch bark. It is also strictly forbidden to wash birch bark items in a dishwasher and to dry them on a heater or with a hairdryer. Using very hot water is not recommended as it can cause the item to change its shape. To maintain the quality of the mug, it is recommended to regularly wipe its surfaces inside and out with natural vegetable oil, preferably sunflower oil. The oil quickly absorbs and does not leave greasy traces.
