The Italian Photography Institute, Istituto Fotocromo Italiano (IFI),
was founded in Florence in 1928 by engineer Vincenzo Balocchi.
In addition to his engineering research, he was a renowned amateur photographer
and served as the art director for Fratelli Alinari.
-
Today, IFI continues to be led by the same family as in its early days.
Each item carries a pure Italian heritage,
with processes from material selection, pattern design, to production and printing all completed in Italy.
The paper used is also Italian artistic paper,
perfectly expressing the printed colors on the material.
This continues the rich artistic style of Italy and other European countries,
evoking a sense of vintage charm and history.
-
For IFI,
a rich, nostalgic style and local character are the main directions for their creations.
From opera, film, and advertising to architecture and world literature,
their style is distinct and all-encompassing.
Through their images, we can imagine the atmosphere of bygone eras.
If you are captivated by medieval Europe,
you may find much to appreciate in IFI's work!
