However, like silver, brass can oxidize, darkening in color due to exposure to rain, sweat, and air. While some appreciate this natural patina, here are some tips to maintain its original luster: ♦ Avoid contact with water. ♦ Store in a resealable bag when not being worn. If the luster appears dull, here are a few simple methods to restore your item's original shine. Please note that while color can be restored, deep scratches may affect the shine (the matte, antique bronze look is also quite beautiful!). ♦ Use a toothbrush with a small amount of foaming toothpaste or tooth powder and brush gently, as if brushing your teeth, to restore shine. Be sure to dry thoroughly afterward. ♦ Wipe with a silver polishing cloth for a quick shine (not suitable for brushed finishes). ♦ Dilute lemon juice and soak the brass accessory for about 5 minutes to quickly restore shine (not suitable for natural stones sensitive to acid, such as pearls).
