Ceramic Brooch: Swallow

About the creation process: Starting with a sketch, the clay is shaped, dried slightly, and then refined through repeated steps. We create enough pieces to fill the kiln evenly, a process that takes about a month. Bisque firing takes 7 hours. After removing and wiping with water, each piece is individually glazed and fired for a second time for 12 hours. Some pieces are finished with gold glaze and placed back in the kiln for another 7 hours. As they require slow cooling, we wait about two days after each firing before removing them from the kiln. Then, each piece is inspected by hand, and a pin is attached to those that meet our standards. Currently, our success rate is around 70%. While this process requires significant time and effort, the result is a decorative brooch that combines the tactile feel of clay, the durability of ceramic, the luster of glaze, and the sparkle of gold accents. We believe this is an item that can be cherished for a long time, remaining a constant companion.
