Wood Fired Pour-Over Coffee Server / 500cc / Xiao Ping Handcrafted - Other - Pottery Khaki

Product Description

The earthy, unrefined clay, and the glaze transformed by the kiln, allow every drop of brewed coffee to feel as though gently embraced by the earth. A capacity of 500cc, perfect as a server for pour-over coffee. Lacking the transparency of glass, it offers a comforting sense of grounded weight. #Capacity500cc In 2023, at the 5th Shanghai International Wood Firing Ceramics Competition, both artists from Xiao Ping Fan Pottery, Chen Shiping and Wang Yufan, had their works selected for the Excellence Award. Your support fuels our continued creation. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53341561855_249c0591a6_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53341437984_c608c50771_c.jpg 2023 Media Feature: The Lean Startup Journey of Xiao Ping Fan Art https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53341329978_bb6984d457_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53341561785_f553253a82_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53341329968_8834731df8_c.jpg The works from Xiao Ping Fan Pottery do not pursue mass production. Each creation possesses a unique conceptual design, imbuing the process of hand-pinching or wheel-throwing with life. Every piece is one of a kind. Our pottery is a collaboration between my husband and me, hence the signatures "Ping" or "Fan." Some pieces also bear the "Xiao Ping Fan Pottery" seal—truly unique! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51567264550_68d52fdae8_b.jpg **1. What is the origin of your work?** We primarily use American clay, Japanese clay, and Miaoli clay from Taiwan for our creations. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51567015014_0b15931da0_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51565549942_7663197885_h.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51567015039_4c2a9b80e3_c.jpg **2. What is the wood firing process?** American clay, Japanese clay, and Miaoli clay are mixed in different proportions. The creation process involves pure hand-pinching (not a potter's wheel) to gradually form the piece. After basic shaping, the lines of the body are refined, followed by polishing to complete the greenware. Once placed in the kiln, the piece undergoes a continuous five-day, four-night wood firing process using natural longan and acacia wood. The temperature reaches over 1200 degrees Celsius. During this time, natural ash deposits adhere to the work, forming a unique ash glaze. Simultaneously, the kiln's flames flow among the pieces, creating beautiful orange-red or blue-purple fire marks. After five days and four nights of ash and flame interaction, a week of cooling is required before a piece achieves its beautiful form! Due to the different kiln atmospheres during each wood firing, the ash deposits and fire marks on each piece are never identical, making every work uniquely one of a kind! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51567015104_1eec785177_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51567264535_7bd0037e60_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51565533012_fdce6d65a3_h.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51566346721_2b98f539f8_c.jpg **3. What should patrons be aware of?** Product colors may vary slightly due to photographic lighting. As works are purely handmade, they will inevitably bear traces of the making process. Minor variations may also occur during the firing process; slight irregularities in the rim or small production scratches are considered normal and do not affect usability. We appreciate your understanding! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51565533097_13ea71a377_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51565533012_219eca4133_c.jpg **4.
