MoMA De Stijl Wooden Ruler For Children

This generously sized wooden ruler was created to commemorate the 100th anniversary of De Stijl and celebrate its enduring influence. De Stijl was an international art movement, primarily centered in the Netherlands, that flourished between 1917 and 1931. De Stijl art moved from Cubism towards complete abstraction, advocating that art should be entirely detached from any natural objects, instead embodying the universal laws of harmony through compositions of basic geometric forms. The De Stijl movement championed pure abstraction and minimalism, constructing compositions solely from geometric shapes and using only the three primary colors—red, yellow, and blue—alongside the non-colors black and white. It is also known as Neoplasticism.
