This tenugui was created to commemorate the creation of a mural at the Kyoto Prefectural Police Department's Nakagyo Police Station.
Just like the mural, the design features shades of white and blue-gray with gold trim.

Each edition is dyed by hand by craftsmen at a dyeing factory in Kyoto that has been in operation since the Taisho era.

●Both ends of Japanese tenugui are left uncut. It is hygienic because it dries easily after use and dirt does not accumulate on the edges. The reason for this is said to be that it is easy to tear during emergencies such as when used as a bandage. As you wash it, it will stop fraying.
