This tenugui is a cutout of Hideki Kimura's representative work, ``Blue Fantasy,'' one of the fusuma paintings at Shoren-in Monzeki Kachoden, part of the lotus trilogy.

Each edition is dyed by hand by craftsmen at a dyeing factory in Kyoto that has been in operation since the Taisho era.

●Both ends of Japanese tenugui are left uncut. It is hygienic because it dries easily after use and dirt does not accumulate on the edges. The reason for this is said to be that it is easy to tear during emergencies such as when used as a bandage. As you wash it, it will stop fraying.
