Works exhibited at the 2020 Domestic Timber Crafts Life Festival
2021 small woodware pop-up shop online exhibition works
Luan Dashan's cabin storage accessories are based on the concept of where we belong and "return to their place", creating a "home" for things that need to be put back after use. For example, for pens, it is where pens belong.
The series of works presents several abstract shapes of houses, combined with finger-jointed structures. Some works try to create the staggered and stacked characteristics of brick houses in bricklaying, and some works retain the protrusions of the tenons to present the beauty of staggered heights. The main technique is the application variation of 3mm finger joints. Use a circular saw table and a jig to accurately cut out finger-jointed tenons at intervals of 3mm with one cut at a time.
There is a place to go back to, which is "home", and you can "return to your place". Important items should be kept in the right place and cherished as if they were the original intention from the heart. Where We Belong is a work by the author who repeated the step-by-step production process to regain the original intention of being moved by the woodwork. The thoughts left in the work are blessings for the things placed in the future.
