Made in Japan
Introduction to Kiyomizu Ware:
"Kyo-yaki" is a type of pottery that originated in the tea ceremony and spread primarily in the foothills of Higashiyama during the early Edo period. On the other hand, "Kiyomizu ware" refers to pottery made at Gojo-zaka, the entrance to Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Currently, all pottery made in Kyoto is called "Kyo-yaki/Kiyomizu ware."
This glaze, known as crystalline glaze, is characterized by the precipitation of crystals during melting and cooling. Beautiful flower-shaped crystal vessels appear as if flowers have bloomed on their surface. Most importantly, the crystals enlarge and take on various shapes... Moreover, no two designs can be made the same; each piece is a unique work of art.
