[Xiao Mei Yao Old Zhu Ni] Clay aged for 30 years, refined using traditional methods, unpolished rim. Fired at 1160°C, shrinkage rate 20%.
"Xiao Mei Yao" refers to a place name approximately 5000 meters from Huanglong Mountain, not that the teapots are fired in small coal kilns. The name originates from the historical presence of several small kilns for firing bricks, tiles, and pottery in that area.
Xiao Mei Yao Zhu Ni clay is known for its rich oiliness and smooth texture. It is highly adhesive, making it challenging to work with and fire. It experiences significant shrinkage during forming, drying, and firing. The firing temperature is relatively low, making it prone to warping, deformation, and cracking. After firing, the pieces transform from orange-red to dark red, appearing warm, lustrous, and producing a beautiful color in tea. When hot water is poured over it, it instantly reveals a delicate red hue, exuding a mysterious charm. Brewing tea with this clay results in a bright and lively liquor that unfolds with fragrance and sweetness. With prolonged use, the color deepens to a mature red, becoming warm and profound, exuding a welcoming feel.
[Frequently Asked Questions QA]
1. How to prepare the teapot before first use?
Clean the inside and outside thoroughly. A scouring pad is recommended; avoid chemical agents. Simply rinse with water, and it's ready for use.
2. How to maintain the teapot?
Keep it clean and dry during and after use to prevent tea stains. Store it in a well-ventilated area after use. For long-term storage in its box, allow it to air dry naturally for 1-2 months to ensure the pores fully release moisture, preventing mold.

Soak with an enzyme cleaner.
