Exhibition Catalogue - Radical Breakthrough - Indie Press - Paper

Product Description

Art offers viewers not only a feast for the eyes, but also energy that enriches the soul. Through diverse mediums and expressive techniques, artists reflect on society or respond to tradition, providing viewers with more varied perspectives. "Radical Breakthrough" seeks to transcend not only how we perceive art, but also to dismantle deeply ingrained preconceptions; to reorder and rebuild after destruction, to surpass and subvert. This exhibition brings together four distinguished artists based in Europe, America, and Taiwan: the internationally acclaimed abstract artist Jiang Hsien-ning, video art master Bill Viola, master of Nouveau réalisme (Nouveau Réalisme) Armand Fernandez, and Ashin, the multi-disciplinary creator representing Taiwan's post-1980s generation. The artists employ distinct creative mediums and each represents a trailblazer from different generations and regions. Yet, what remains constant is their courage to overturn the ordinary, adhering to their convictions about what creation should be, ought to be, and ought not to be; they too have undergone processes of imitation, deep reflection, transformation, breakthrough, and blossoming. Through their works, we gain insight into the origin of the artists' creations, experiencing the boundless vastness of art's allure through their courage to constantly surpass themselves and their thought-provoking impact.
