All officially authorized products are affixed with the National Palace Museum's laser anti-counterfeiting label. Shen Zhenlin, courtesy name Fengchi, was a native of Wuxian, Jiangsu. He served in the Imperial Painting Academy during the Xianfeng era (mid-19th century). He excelled at portraiture and was also skilled in painting birds, flowers, and landscapes. His reputation as an artist was highly esteemed, and Empress Dowager Cixi once bestowed upon him a handwritten plaque inscribed with "Master of Lifelike Portrayals." This artwork is one painting from the series "Flower Goddesses of the Month." It is rendered in color, depicting a peony and a bare-root orchid, both emerging diagonally from the lower left edge of the frame, dancing in the breeze.
