This is a single earring featuring blue-green iridescent Roman glass, amethyst, and abundant stone beads connected with an ethnic bell.
Roman glass dates back to the Roman Empire (27 BCE - 395 CE).
These are polished fragments of ancient vessels, now drilled with holes.
One side showcases beautiful iridescence that shifts with the angle of light. The reverse side reveals patina (adherences), with a hint of iridescence.
Iridescence occurs when glass is buried underground for extended periods, causing a chemical reaction between the glass and soil components, resulting in this sparkling sheen. Not all glass buried for long durations develops this effect.
The piece has a slight thickness, lending it a substantial feel.
(Roman Glass Dimensions: 2.4cm length, 1.6cm width, 0.8cm thickness)
Two types of faceted garnets, amethyst, kyanite, and double-terminated herkimer diamonds are clustered like abundant fruit.
The kyanite is set between 18k gold-plated Karen silver.
The small bell is a component from the Kuchi tribe of Afghanistan, originally part of decorative items, and is an old piece.
It does not produce sound.
This is a slightly voluminous single earring that evokes a sense of decadent beauty.
