Belongs to old bead and old etching. This is an extended ancient bead from the later period of the PYU era, over 2,000 years ago. Similar to how ancient jade from the Xia, Shang, and Zhou dynasties developed and extended to Ming and Qing dynasty jade... West Asian ancient beads also have this historical lineage... Features include red iron staining, staining-induced cracks, orange peel texture, and earth-eroded pits, all indicative of being buried underground. **************************** This ancient bead with a special totem featuring 3 fingers and a mythical creature's head is currently only found in Myanmar. There are 3 interpretations of this totem. Interpretation 1: Early collectors in Taiwan speculated over ten years ago that it represents aliens. Interpretation 2: According to major bead wholesalers and mainland Chinese collectors, it represents the anthropomorphic Garuda, influenced by the ancient Tibetan Zhang Zhung civilization. Interpretation 3: According to research by a Burmese-American, an expert in anthropology and archaeology, and a visiting professor at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, it should represent a deity worshipped in ancient Myanmar during the Bronze Age.
