[Takatori Hassengama, Chikuzen Tea Ceremony Pottery]
Takatori Hassengama started in 1602 with Eimanji Takuma Kiln in Nogata, followed by Uchigaiso Kiln, Yamada Kiln in Yamada, and Shirahatayama Kiln in Iizuka, and in 1669, the third generation Hachinojo moved from Iizuka to this area. Since then, the kiln has been burning and has been mainly producing tea utensils to this day. This is a historic pottery factory that has inherited a pottery lineage that has been in the same family for 400 years.
While producing tea utensils that are relevant to the present day, they also create easy-to-use utensils that incorporate the beauty of tea utensils into utensils that decorate the dining table. This is a pottery factory that produces utensils that allow you to enjoy the "thin construction" and "beauty of the glaze" that are characteristic of Takatori ware.
[Ceramicist Takatori Shuichiro] Personal comment
In Takatori ware, which has been in existence since 1600, the heart and technique that have been passed down from generation to generation as a kiln for tea ware are used to express the beauty of the ware in modern life. We hope you enjoy the distinctive colors and sophisticated construction.
