Artist introduction_
Tosa Mitsuoki was a 17th-century Japanese Tosa School painter in the Edo period. Izumi was born in Sakai. His father is Tosa Mitsunori. His real surname is Fujiwara, and his childhood name is Fujimanmaru. Tosa Mitsunari and Tosa Mitsuchika are his sons.
He was appointed as the prefect (painting director) of the Imperial Painting Institute, and returned to the preparatory position at the painting institute that had been suspended for 85 years since Tosa Mitsumoto. He revived the Tosa School. In addition to Yamato paintings, he also learned the techniques of the Kano School and others, establishing the Tosa School in the Edo period. style.
