Children of Men is a dystopian science fiction film directed by Alfonso Cuarón, released in 2006, and adapted from the novel of the same name by P.D. James. The story depicts the year 2027, where the world faces a global population crisis due to women suddenly becoming infertile, leading to the gradual disintegration of civilization. Theo, a former political activist, is asked by his ex-girlfriend Julian, who is still involved in political activism, to escort and protect a Black woman named Kee to the mythical sanctuary known as the "Tomorrow," located at sea. On the ranch, Kee reveals to Theo that she is the only woman in the world capable of bearing children. As they embark on their perilous journey to the Tomorrow, a haven for a non-governmental armed organization, they must confront issues of politics, human values, and hope.
