"In 1989, I came to Dar es Salaam and started working at a barbershop. While working with relatives like my uncle Charinda, I gradually became interested in art and began painting in 1991." Yaphidu has developed a unique and slightly mysterious world of animals with beautiful colors and delicate brushstrokes. The turning point for this style came in 1995. "At first, I painted animals that appeared in my dreams on canvas, and unexpectedly, interesting characters emerged, so I decided to continue painting them along this path." Yaphidu's brushwork is delicate, and he excels at using bright colors. He has lived in South Africa, making a living by painting, and has now returned to Tanzania. He is married with two children.
