The artist carefully controls the thickness of each glaze application, followed by a 20-hour firing process at 1260 degrees Celsius. This intense heat causes the material to contract and flow within the kiln, creating the distinctive patterns and fluid movement reminiscent of peacock feathers. The challenge in its creation lies in the precise control of glaze thickness and the delicate adjustment of the firing temperature curve. If the glaze is too thin or the temperature too low, the characteristic peacock feather pattern will not emerge. Conversely, if the glaze is too thick or the temperature too high, the glaze may flow onto the accompanying plate, potentially damaging both the cup and the plate. Even ambient temperature fluctuations can influence the final outcome. Numerous factors are at play, and despite years of dedicated practice, achieving perfect predictability remains elusive. It is precisely this inherent variability that imbues each finished piece with its unique value. The artist hopes this creation inspires others to embrace hope when facing adversity, to persevere with unwavering effort, and to ultimately unfurl their own beautiful "feathers," illuminating their lives with brilliance.
