We use real Morpho butterfly wings, sourced from Peru (we use wings with natural imperfections that prevent them from being used as specimens). Their beauty is so profound, they are often described as living jewels! The upper surface of the wings possess a metallic luster, which in most species, presents as a vibrant blue. The captivating play of light across the wings shifts their color, revealing stunning shades of blue, purple, green, and more. Morpho butterfly wings derive their color not from pigment, but from the intricate structure that reflects light. This means that even slight damage, such as crushing or contact with oils, can cause the color to appear dull or black. To preserve their delicate beauty, we employ a proprietary technique that creates a small gap between the wing and the resin, preventing direct saturation. As these are delicate materials, we kindly ask that you avoid applying strong pressure to the resin. Doing so can crush the air layer between the wing and resin, disrupting the light reflection and causing the color to darken. The epoxy resin used can also yellow with prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and is sensitive to high temperatures. Therefore, please store your accessory with care. Over time, depending on storage conditions and usage, the colors may naturally fade.
