Notes 1/30:
It’s been a while since I savored this Panama light-medium roast.
Considering the current historical high in coffee futures, this coffee offers excellent value! Flavor profile: creamy sweetness, a simple yet lingering finish; it beautifully showcases the roaster's skill and the allure of caramelization! While researching, I discovered a story about the Boquete region, which I'd like to share with you! On this cool day, I hope you enjoy this selection.
▶ A Note on the Origin:
"Bajareque" isn't the name of a farm, but a "climatic phenomenon." It specifically refers to the fine mist that forms during the dry season (harvest season) in the Boquete mountains. Humid air from the Caribbean encounters the mountains, rises, and condenses into a "mist-like drizzle."
Why is it important? This drizzle doesn't saturate the soil, preventing root rot, but it keeps the coffee tree leaves moist and significantly lowers the temperature. This creates a natural cooling environment, allowing the coffee cherries to mature very slowly, accumulating delicate acidity and sweetness. Simultaneously, this climate is often accompanied by rainbows, which is why Boquete is also known as the "Valley of Rainbows."
Brand Background: There is a renowned local coffee family in Panama, the Wilford Family (as famous as the Lamastus family of Elida Estate), who own a brand called Café Bajareque. Although this label doesn't explicitly state the estate, beans commonly found on the market named Bajareque are usually associated with the Wilford family or select micro-lots from that specific climatic zone.
