High-definition, high-gloss is a surface treatment process that emphasizes precision and time. During production, a transparent protective lacquer is applied repeatedly, followed by multiple rounds of delicate sanding and polishing, allowing the clear coat to fill the natural pores and microscopic indentations on the wood surface layer by layer. After dozens of repeated applications and sanding, a flat, delicate, and substantial high-gloss surface is gradually formed. This intricate process not only makes the wood’s original natural grain clearer and more vivid but also fully expresses the layering and three-dimensional effect of the wood pattern. The finished pen body exhibits a warm, gentle luster reminiscent of high-end automotive wood interior trim, highlighting the unique beauty of natural wood as light flows across the surface. The Standard Calligraphy Titanium Tip uses a German BOCK #250 (#6) standard titanium nib, hand-crafted and adjusted by Old Goat artisans into a calligraphy nib that produces the varied line widths characteristic of brush calligraphy. It offers a unique feel, with more flexibility than standard steel nibs. The Old Goat Special calligraphy titanium tip (EF nib grind/adjustment) is a custom nib produced to our specifications by the original German manufacturer, sized at #250 (#6), then hand-crafted and adjusted by Old Goat artisans to create a calligraphy nib capable of varied line widths with the unique charm of brush calligraphy. It offers more flexibility than the standard calligraphy titanium tip, allowing for a richer range of strokes. The nib is engraved with the 3952 Yushan logo, making it a collector's item. (As it is a nib with the highest flexibility, it is less suited for beginners; we recommend it as an advanced choice for users who have experience with calligraphy steel nibs or the standard calligraphy titanium tip.) **Included in this set: German SCHMIDT K2 converter (no ink included) + one genuine leather pen case hand-sewn by a Taiwanese master artisan (color/style shipped at random) + 3952 Old Goat wooden pen box packaging.** Fountain pen dimensions: total length approx. 154mm, body including grip section approx. 105mm, maximum diameter (excluding clip) approx. 17mm, total weight (excluding nib) approx. 47g. Hand-ground calligraphy nib adjustment: 1. For the calligraphy nib, it is recommended to start by dipping the nib in ink for writing (do not remove the converter installed inside the pen barrel to prevent ink from flowing back into the barrel after dip writing), allowing the nib to break in and adapt to its characteristics. After a period of use, you may begin using the converter to fill ink. 2. The calligraphy nib is an EF nib ground and adjusted into a curved shape. Line width variation is achieved not by applying pressure to the nib, but through the angle at which the pen is held, utilizing the curve of the nib tip. Holding the pen at a steeper angle reduces the contact area between the nib and paper, resulting in finer lines. Holding it at a more inclined angle or applying slight pressure increases the contact area, resulting in thicker lines. Proficiency in creating thick or thin lines comes with practice (each nib has a specific tolerance for pressure; do not apply excessive force to avoid nib damage or misalignment. It is recommended to use a writing mat under the paper while writing). The Special calligraphy titanium tip is a titanium nib specially made for Old Goat by the original German manufacturer, featuring the 3952 Yushan logo. Its characteristics are softer and more flexible than standard titanium tips, but it is less easy to control. Because of this softness, poor technique when applying pressure may result in ink skipping. Users are easily tempted to apply pressure to the nib; if the user's technique is insufficient or they are unfamiliar with the nib's characteristics, it may cause the nib and feed to briefly separate, resulting in ink flow that cannot keep up with writing speed, causing skipping. If the angle of the nib is off-axis, combined with pressure, the ink flow channel can be distorted, leading to poor flow. Therefore, this model is softer and more difficult to control; we recommend becoming proficient with steel nibs or standard calligraphy titanium tips before choosing this as an advanced option.
