Marbled clay refers to the combination of different colored clays. Patterns are pieced together with different colored clays into a long cylindrical shape, much like a decorative sushi roll. When sliced, numerous pieces of clay with similar patterns are obtained, which are then sculpted into plates. Vessels made using the marbled clay technique possess unique characteristics. The patterns appear on both the front and back surfaces. Due to the marbled clay method, the patterns undergo natural deformation during the crafting process, influenced by patting and rolling, resulting in a charmingly uneven and dynamic appearance, as if the patterns themselves are in motion!
Crafted using Japanese porcelain clay and fired at 1230°C.
