This is a beautiful bowl featuring delicate inlay patterns meticulously crafted by hand.
The piece showcases a deep, rich green that stands out against the understated texture of the clay.
The inlay pattern is not only visually appealing but also offers a pleasant tactile sensation with its subtle texture.
This piece is finished through a process of wheel-throwing with Shigaraki clay, followed by carving the surface of the bowl, incising the pattern, bisque firing, filling the incised areas with white slip and wiping away the excess, applying an interior celadon glaze, and finally, high-temperature firing. It has a satisfying thickness, making it comfortable to hold with a smooth rim. Beautiful crackles adorn the interior.
Because the clay for the bowl and the slip used for the inlay are different types, their shrinkage rates during firing vary. This can sometimes result in the white clay not adhering perfectly in the incised areas, requiring numerous trials and considerable time to perfect.
The deep green hue enhances the appearance of your dishes and complements both Japanese and Western table settings.
It can be used broadly as a rice bowl or small serving bowl for soups and more.
It also makes a thoughtful gift for someone special.
You can enjoy how the crackles develop over time, adding to its depth and character.
Diameter 12.5cm, Height 7.0cm, Weight 250g
