Istituto Fotocromo Italiano (IFI), founded in Florence in 1928 by engineer Vincenzo Balocchi, was established by an Italian photographic association. Balocchi was not only involved in engineering research but was also a renowned amateur photographer and former art director for Fratelli Alinari.
-
Today, IFI remains under the leadership of the same family, with every product embodying authentic Italian heritage. From material selection, pattern design, to production and printing, all processes are completed in Italy. The paper used is also Italian art paper, perfectly expressing the nuances of printed colors while continuing the rich, vintage artistic style characteristic of Italy and other European nations.
-
For IFI, a rich sense of nostalgia and local character are the primary directions for their creations. Their diverse styles, drawing inspiration from opera, film, advertising, architecture, and classic literature, are distinct and all-encompassing. Through their imagery, we can envision the atmosphere of bygone eras. If you are captivated by medieval Europe, you might find much to appreciate in IFI's work!
