He was a prominent Ukiyo-e artist of Japan's late Edo period and a representative figure of Japanese *Kasei* culture. At 14, he began learning woodblock printing, and at 18, he studied painting under the Ukiyo-e artist Katsukawa Shunsho, embarking on his long and prolific artistic career. In 1826, to coincide with the burgeoning domestic tourism in Japan and fueled by his personal affection for Mount Fuji, Hokusai created the series of landscape prints "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji." This series brought him widespread fame, with "Fine Wind, Clear Morning" (also known as Red Fuji) and "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" being the most celebrated. His daughter, Katsushika Ōi, was also a renowned painter. Hokusai was born in the Katsushika village in eastern Edo and was later adopted by a family of mirror polishers. In his youth, he worked as an apprentice in a lending library, delivering books. In his spare time, he studied painting and illustrations, learning from artists such as Katsukawa Shunsho and Tawaraya Sōri. He began publishing his works at 19 and passed away at the age of 90, leaving behind an estimated 35,000 works throughout his lifetime. | Specifications Size: H25.7 × W36.4 × D0.1 cm Packaging Material: OPP Bag Product Material: Art Paper Quantity: 1 piece Origin: Taiwan
