This folk decorative craft, made from black iron through intricate processes, features window grille designs without rigid standards, all created by the artisan's ingenuity. Geometric patterns composed of straight lines or arcs are most common, making each iron window grille a unique, "custom-made" work of art by the master craftsman. However, as galvanized steel windows produced by mechanical means gradually replaced iron window grilles, their creation has nearly become history. To revive the spirit of these handcrafted, beautiful window grilles, metal material – copper – and etching techniques were employed, thus bringing the essence of the window grille back to life.
