"Nerage" is a technique where colorful clays, colored with pigments, are kneaded together. Patterns are created through the centrifugal force and the stretching and shrinking of the clay as it is shaped on the potter's wheel. The resulting patterns vary depending on how the clays are kneaded and the time and effort dedicated to centering on the wheel, allowing you to enjoy the happy accidents of each moment. For this vessel, three types of clay, colored with red and navy pigments, were used. The gentle colors are reminiscent of the morning mist sky dyed by the rising sun peeking over the mountains. The colors on the outside and inside differ, resulting in a vessel with a gentle and intriguing visual landscape. It is finished with a glossy transparent glaze and fired at 1250 degrees Celsius for a firm texture. The round, plump form is charming, and the gentle curves fit comfortably in the palm of your hand. With its shape widening towards the bottom, this bowl holds more than its appearance might suggest. It is generously sized for whisking matcha and also recommended for hearty dishes like soups and stews. Please enjoy it in your preferred way. All processes, from kneading the clay to shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are done by hand, utilizing an electric kiln and electric potter's wheel for pottery that are set up in my studio. Since the patterns vary with each firing, each piece is unique and cannot be replicated exactly. The item you will receive is the exact one shown in the product images. The base of the bowl has been sanded to minimize scratching tabletops. I explore various glazes and clays, seeking the best combinations, and create pottery in a variety of colors and shapes. These pieces are unique, and while they may appear similar, they cannot be made identically. I would be delighted if you could find a piece that you love. Therefore, we have treated the products with a ceramic sealant before shipping, so there is no need to "medome" (seasoning the pottery). This sealant treatment requires 2-3 days, so we have set the shipping period from order to dispatch at 5 days. If you do not require sealant treatment, please let us know at the time of purchase. - Cutlery shown in product images is not included. - The bowl will appear whiter under morning or white light, and redder or yellower under evening light or warm-toned lighting. - While product images are taken and edited to be as accurate as possible, colors may appear differently depending on your monitor settings and lighting conditions.
