[Xiao Mei Yao Old Zhu Ni Clay] Aged for 30 years, meticulously prepared using ancient methods, unpolished rim. Fired at 1160 °C with a shrinkage rate of 20%. Xiao Mei Yao refers to a location approximately 5000 meters from Huanglong Mountain, not a firing method. It earned its name from the presence of small kilns for bricks, tiles, and pottery in the past. Xiao Mei Yao Zhu Ni clay is known for its rich, smooth texture and high viscosity, making it challenging to work with and fire. It experiences significant shrinkage during shaping, drying, and firing, requiring lower firing temperatures and making it prone to warping, deformation, and cracking. After firing, the pieces transform from orange-red to a deep red, exhibiting a warm, lustrous sheen. It enhances the tea's flavor beautifully; hot water poured over it reveals a delicate, captivating red hue. Brewing with this clay results in a bright, lively tea with a fragrant aroma and a sweet aftertaste. Over time, it develops a rich, deep, and inviting patina, showcasing its natural warmth and charm.
[Frequently Asked Questions]
1. How to prepare the teapot before first use?
Rinse thoroughly inside and out with water. A soft sponge is recommended; avoid chemical cleaners. Simply rinse with water, and it's ready for use.
2. How to maintain the teapot?
Keep it clean and dry after use to prevent tea stains. Store in a well-ventilated area. For long-term storage in its box, ensure it's naturally dried for 1-2 months to allow moisture to fully evaporate from the pores, preventing mold.
3. How to clean tea stains or mold?
Soak with an enzyme-based cleaner.
4. How to warm the teapot correctly?
In cold weather or after a period of non-use, gently pour 40°C warm water over the exterior and interior of the teapot. Then, fill the teapot with this water and let it sit to allow the porous clay to absorb moisture.
