According to the inscription, this scroll was made when he was twenty-nine years old in the second year of Xuande (1427 AD). It vividly and warmly depicts the family happiness of an ape family. The mother ape is squatting on a stone with her baby ape in her arms. The young ape is holding its mother's neck with its left hand, and its right arm is reaching towards the father who is holding a fruit in the tree across the stream to tempt the baby ape. The three apes have different postures and vivid expressions, and their fur also uses ink shades and dryness to express the texture. The lines of thorns, bamboo bushes, reeds and water patterns that line the scenery are also natural and smooth.
