I create my works based on the traditional Japanese craft of Ikkanbari. Ikkanbari is a method of decorating a basket product with white washi paper, then decorating it with colored washi paper or cloth, and finally applying persimmon tannins and water-based varnish.
It is a craft that requires finishing. Many of the pieces use old fabrics and paper, but my work uses more everyday materials.
The golden-brown flower lover fabric is arranged on a brown washi paper base. The inside is lined with blue patterned wrapping paper. The bottom is lined with green washi paper. A cloth drawstring bag is included so you can rest assured that even delicate materials will not get in the way.
