To the west of the lake stands the Samding Monastery, quietly perched on a mountain peak by the lakeside. It has witnessed centuries pass, with countless monks practicing their devotion there. They guard the lake's legends and faith, or perhaps, the lake also protects the people of the land.
In winter, people retreat to warmer valleys or the south. Snow covers everything, and the lake freezes thick, becoming land.
