Naga Glass Coral Beads, Blue Vintage Beads, Necklace with Old Orissa Brass and Turquoise Clasp

A necklace crafted by linking together antique Naga tribe glass coral beads, charming blue vintage beads, and rare old Orissa brass elements. The oval beads in a vibrant vermilion and red hue are antique beads, once used by the Naga people for their necklaces, dating back to the 1800s-1900s. These glass beads are fashioned to resemble coral, each possessing a unique character with subtle signs of wear that tell its story. (Glass Coral Bead Size: Length 6-9mm) The blue beads, originating from China around the mid-1900s, were trade items. They possess a captivating hue, reminiscent of indigo or a subtle blue-green. While exhibiting minor surface scratches, these vintage beads remain in excellent condition. (Vintage Bead Size: 0.8cm height, 0.9cm diameter) Adorning the clasp area are blue-green beads, identified as Indo-Pacific beads. These antique beads, with origins tracing back to the 2nd century BCE, are represented here by a remarkable find from Indonesia, estimated to be from around the 10th century—over a thousand years old! The golden beads are from old Orissa brass, a precious and scarce material sourced from the Orissa region of India. The charms near the clasp are also antique brass, originating from India. The clasp itself features a disk of turquoise. (Turquoise Size: 1.2cm diameter) The small Karen silver beads near the clasp are each individually hand-stamped, a testament to the meticulous craftsmanship involved. The very thought of this painstaking, individual artistry is quite humbling. ◇ Karen Silver ◇ This silver is crafted by the hill tribes living in the Thai-Burma region. Each piece is handmade, renowned for its exceptionally high purity. Antique White Heart beads and Indo-Pacific beads have been incorporated into the loop of the clasp. The necklace is strung with waxed cord, which may feel slightly stiff initially but will gracefully soften and become more supple with wear.
