The “Shenjiao” (divine palanquin) comes in two types: “Wenjiao” and “Wujiao.” The Wujiao has no roof and is mainly used for deities of martial origin.
Being lighter, the Wujiao allows for more dynamic and varied steps during temple processions. The back of the palanquin is often decorated with five-color flags representing the five directions. The combination of the swaying flags and the synchronized steps of the bearers highlights the lively and spirited aura of the Wujiao.
