US Army Air Force A-2 Flight Jacket The U.S. Army Aviation Type A-2 leather summer open cockpit flight jacket was first standardized on May 9, 1931, and has become one of the most popular pilot garments of all time. Original specifications called for buckle-flap patch pockets and a neckline with a "hook-and-eye" neck closure and double diamond-stitched epaulets, trimmed with wool bracelets and a belt. The brown suede was made for Willis & Geiger, a US Army munitions contractor. Willis & Geiger A2 brown horseskin bomber jacket with 100% nylon lining.
