When the weight of the gold layer constitutes at least 1/20th of the total material weight, it is called Gold Filled. 14/20K signifies that at least 1/20th of the total product weight is 14k gold. Because Gold Filled pieces are made with a thick layer of gold, they are highly resistant to peeling or tarnishing, even with prolonged use.
