Hagi Ware Kintsugi Necklace - Surgical Steel 18K Chain, Pink/White, Freshwater

This is an SDGs Kintsugi jewelry piece made by upcycling pottery from Shōkeian (勝景庵), a potter located in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. We reuse cracked, chipped, or otherwise unusable ceramics, apply Kintsugi, and remake them into accessories. The concept of this work is to allow people to feel closer to nature and long-lasting Japanese tradition, transforming the pieces into modern accessories that connect to the future and create new possibilities. We have combined two types of refined ceramic fragments in pink and white with a pinkish freshwater pearl. Kintsugi is applied to the side of the ceramic fragment, making the gold visible from the side and creating an air of elegance. The included chain is made of surgical stainless steel, which is allergy-compatible, and is coated with 18K gold, making it resistant to discoloration and gentle on the skin. The chain length is 40cm + 5cm adjuster. This work is created using a modern, simplified Kintsugi technique, which differs from Hon-Urushi (true lacquer made from the sap of the lacquer tree).
