Product Description

Original vessels created by ceramic artist Morishita Shingo. The lid was created by woodworker Yasushi Shimizu to fit the container. With this combination, a new "lidded container" was created. The song we would like to introduce to you today is "A moment of eternal rest...hitoyasumi...it's okay to stay here for free." The body of the vessel is made by refining Shigaraki mountain clay and turning it into clay. A small shrine is made and an idol is placed inside. It is then coated with ash glaze and fired. Along with a story that goes back a long way... The lid is made of walnut. The only request from the ceramic artist Morishita Shingo was, "Since the gogu is exposed, I want it to have a roof." Based on that, I imagined the roof of a five-story pagoda or similar. I created a base to match the diameter of the vessel, and then stacked boards on top of it to achieve a balanced overall look. The red protrusions on either side, the gogu in the center, and the towering roof reminiscent of architecture make this a powerful and distinctive piece, reminiscent of a temple. As a vessel, as an object... So how do you use this? ■Material: Container/Ceramics Lid: Walnut ■Size: Width approx. 440mm, depth approx. 290mm, height approx. 740mm *The lid is finished with a natural oil. If moisture is left on it, it will stain, so be sure to wipe off any moisture as soon as possible. Also, the lid is not airtight, so it is not suitable as a storage container for items that dislike moisture.
