They are meticulously designed symbols that can even be transformed into shapes. The challenge in creating textiles with them was: how could I turn these symbols, seen everywhere, into an appealing form?" – Koji Wakisaka "Jusoo" was initially designed by Koji Wakisaka for an underwear brand. Although he personally loved it, the pattern didn't quite match the product and fabric at the time, failing to make a significant impact. It wasn't until the early days of SOU・SOU, when Goichi Wakabayashi visited Wakisaka's home, that he saw the pattern and exclaimed, "Even without a brand logo, just looking at the pattern tells me which brand it is!" This is how "SOU・SOU Jusoo" became known to us. With natural, hand-drawn lines, Wakisaka imbues each number with an irregular outline, creating unique digits. Today, "SOU・SOU Jusoo" has become the pattern for the brand's wrapping paper and shopping bags, serving as a symbol of SOU・SOU. Hohoemi (Smile) | Original Design: 2011 "A smile is different from laughter; a gentle smile holds true meaning. If one encounters a radiant smile, one must surely be enveloped in warmth." – Koji Wakisaka The beloved "Hohoemi" was initially just a decorative doodle by Koji Wakisaka on a piece of mosaic tile! He kept this mosaic tile hanging on his studio wall. Although Wakabayashi visited many times, he didn't show much reaction to this decoration. One day, Wakabayashi suddenly pointed to the "Hohoemi" on the wall and said, "Mr. Wakisaka, let's use this pattern for textile printing!" Wakabayashi described "Hohoemi" like a girl he didn't notice in third grade but suddenly fell for in sixth grade.
