Product Description

The goddess Eir (Eir, Old Norse: [ˈɛir], "protection, help, mercy") is a healer in Norse mythology. She could be both a deity and a Valkyrie. Mentions of this goddess are found in both Eddas - in prose and in poetry. Also, references to the goddess Air are present in skaldic poetry. Scandinavian mythologists still cannot agree on whether Eir was originally a healer goddess, or whether she had some other functions. Eir is also considered to be one of the incarnations of Odin's wife, Frigga. In sources, she is sometimes compared with a Greek deity.
