Coarse red clay that allows you to enjoy the rustic texture and comforting warmth unique to earthenware. It is coated with a nuanced white glaze that has a slight tendency to flow, and finished with blue glaze brushstrokes. Enjoy the warmth unique to red clay, along with the refreshing white and blue colors. The vessel has a plump, round, and soft impression, but the slightly smaller foot gives it a clean silhouette. Its depth also makes it suitable for moist rice dishes like egg-over-rice or congee. The blue color pairs well with white and yellow, and is recommended for white rice, mixed-grain rice, or even rice cooked with chestnuts or sweet potatoes. All processes, from kneading the clay to shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are done by hand in my home studio, which is equipped with a small electric kiln and a potter's wheel. While it has a slight heft, this contributes to its earthenware feel. Although mass production is not possible, each piece has its own unique character, and you can enjoy the charm that comes from being handmade. The item you receive will be the same as pictured. For this reason, we apply a waterproof sealant for tableware to our products before shipping, so there is no need to pre-treat the item (目止め - medome). The sealing process requires 2-3 days, which is why we set the shipping period to 5 days from order placement. If you do not wish for the sealant treatment, please let us know at the time of purchase. - We strive to photograph and edit product images to be as close to the actual product as possible, but please understand that colors may appear differently depending on your monitor environment and lighting conditions. - As we also sell on other sites, in the rare event of overlapping purchases, the item will be delivered to the customer who completes the purchase process first.
