<About Jadeite>
Jadeite is one of two recognized types of jade in gemology, and a variety of Hetian jade. It is spinach-green in color and belongs to nephrite. Jadeite has a fine texture, with a smooth, lustrous sheen reminiscent of oil. The once internationally renowned "Taiwan Jade" is actually jadeite. Records of Taiwan Jade date back to the prehistoric Neolithic era, where it was fashioned into ornaments. Excavated artifacts are considered national treasures by the National Museum of Prehistory in Taiwan. Its mineral composition is mainly tremolite-actinolite, with a chemical composition of calcium, magnesium, and iron silicates, and a hardness of 6-6.5. Jadeite has been cherished since ancient times, becoming popular among royalty during the Qing Dynasty and regarded as a rare treasure.
