Spinosaurus is a genus of giant carnivorous dinosaurs that lived in North Africa during the Late Cretaceous period (approximately 100 to 93 million years ago). Its name means "lizard with shark teeth" and its first fossils were discovered in the early 20th century. There are currently two known species: Spinosaurus aegyptiacus and Spinosaurus maroccanus. With a length of about 12 meters, it is one of the largest carnivorous dinosaurs, alongside Spinosaurus, Tyrannosaurus Rex, and Giganotosaurus.
