Tiger and Boy Fishing Chronicle Postcard

Inspired by Life of Pi— One of my most cherished films, its profound meaning and lasting impact linger long after viewing. Perhaps everyone connects with it on different levels, be it religious, philosophical, or existential. For me, the most touching part was the ending, where Pi and Richard Parker survive the shipwreck, and the tiger leaps back into the forest without a backward glance. Pi wept, and tears welled up in my eyes too. After spending over 200 days together on the raft, couldn't the tiger have felt even a shred of affection? A simple look back would have sufficed. It reminded me of my own cat, who passed away three years ago after three years aboard a spaceship. Over our 13 years together, I often wondered if I held any place in his heart. He wouldn't come when called, only acknowledging me when hungry, then turning away once satisfied. "I wish my cat were more like a dog, always sticking by my side and letting me take him out for walks," I'd often lament to those around me. Yet, in the final days before his journey to the stars, he fought through his discomfort with all his might, waiting for me to return from my studies on the other side of the world, just to see me one last time. Perhaps I did hold a special place after all! I'm grateful we had a proper farewell, a gentle goodbye. This is for all who resonate with this story.
