Theme: 『Elegy』 A heart that wishes to sink. Words that want to be hidden. A wind that brings tears. Away from the sun, I am in the shadows. Gazing at the air where beautiful dust motes dance in the faint light, I perceive form. ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー The theme for the first collection from the OTUTUMI online shop is 『Elegy』. It embodies the designer's feelings of the "present moment." Everyone, at some point, tucks away feelings of sadness or melancholy, without speaking of them to anyone. This inner world is expressed through 『Elegy』 (meaning a song of sadness, lament, or dirge in Japanese). In Japan, black mizuhiki is typically used for condolence money envelopes and is not seen at celebratory occasions. However, this time, we have intentionally used only black, crafting the pieces to be perceived not by "color," but by "light" and "shadow." Though substantial in size, they are remarkably lightweight. They represent the unending cycle of emotions, even in sadness.
